We use the Zoom H6 instead of the XLR inputs sold by the camcorder manufacturer so that we can a) feed audio from the lavalier and hand held mics into the camcorder and b) record a backup copy of the audio in case the camcorder screws up and doesn’t record the audio correctly.

We use the Comica wireless mic system because it is more durable and has a better transmitter/receiver technology then the Sennheiser G3 we used in the past. Plus, the Comica requires only 1 receiver so the cost is significantly lower.
